I. Opening An Account
How do I start the process?
The first step is to obtain an Advance Deposit Wagering Account Application. Just
Click Here to print out an Application and to read about the advantages of opening an ADW Account.
Fill out the Application, sign it (attesting to the accuracy of the information) and attach a copy of one (1) piece of identification. Then return the documents, either in person, by mail or by fax. Please read the Application for more detailed instructions.
After your information has been verified, NYCOTB will contact you by telephone and provide you with an Account number and temporary PIN (with instructions for changing the temporary PIN). We will forward a “welcome package” that includes, among other things, program rules for use of the Account, instructions on the various options for loading the Account and a card representative of the account.
How long does it take before my account is opened?
Once your ADW Account Application is received and your information verified, you will be contacted by telephone within 24 hours to advise that your Account has been opened.
Anything else I need to know?
Just a few things:
- You must be 18 years of age or older to open an account and to wager.
- NYCOTB Advance Deposit Wagering is not available to residents of states where account wagering is prohibited. ADW Account holders that are residents of California, Florida and Kansas cannot wager on tracks in their applicable home state. Also, New Jersey residents cannot wager through their NYCOTB ADW Account when physically wagering from New Jersey.
- You do not have to wager a designated amount or number of times to maintain your account, however it will be deactivated if there is no wagering activity during a period of 36 consecutive months.
There are no enrollment fees and no wagering fees. There also is no minimum
balance required for your Account.
II. Deposits/Withdrawals
How can I make deposits to my account?
There are four easy ways to deposit money into your ADW Account:
- make a cash deposit at any NYCOTB branch location;
- mail a check or money order;
- transfer funds from your checking account through OTBPay;
- a cash advance through EASYOTB.
A Deposit Slip can be obtained at any NYCOTB location, by contacting our Customer Services Department and having them mailed to you or by accessing the Funding section (for mail deposits only). For more details, go to our Funding section.
How long before the money is deposited into my ADW Account?
- Cash deposits are credited instantaneously after the betting clerk (in a NYCOTB branch location) processes the deposit.
- Checks/Money Orders are generally credited within 24 hours of receipt by NYCOTB. Checks over $299.99 will be credited on the fifth business day and/or outofstate checks exceeding $299.99 will be credited on the tenth business day.
- Deposits made through OTBPay are available within 15 minutes after the transaction is approved. Please see the Funding section for applicable fees and detailed information.
- Deposits up to $500.00 made though EASYOTB are usually available within 15 minutes of completion of the transaction. Please see the Funding section for applicable fees and detailed information.
How can I make withdrawals from my ADW Account?
Money can be withdrawn from an Account by going to any NYCOTB location
or by making a request through the mail. A Withdrawal Slip must be submitted with all requests, whether in person or by mail and must include: 1)the name of the Account holder, 2)the identification number of the Account; 3)the signature of the Account holder and 4)the date on which the withdrawal request is being made. When making a withdrawal at a branch location, identification is required along with your ADW Green Card. Please check the Funding section for more detailed information.

How long before I receive the withdrawal funds?
Withdrawal requests made in person at a branch are processed immediately to the maximum extent possible. Requests made through the mail are mailed to the Account holder within five business days following receipt by NYCOTB.
III. Wagering Process
Is there a wagering limit?
No, there is no wagering limit, as long as you have sufficient funds to pay for
the wager. The maximum that you can bet in each wager is $250 but you can
hit “Repeat Bet” or enter your wagers as many times as you like until you have wagered your desired amount.
If you do not have sufficient funds in your Account, the “Send” button on the screen
will not operate.
What hours can I wager?
You can wager from 8:00 am through the last post time of the day.
Do I receive track odds when wagering on the internet with NYCOTB?
Yes, you receive track (nonsurcharge) payouts.
What racing information is available on the internet wagering site?
Odds, scratches, results, prices, pools, Will Pays, current race available, minutes to post and post time are available for all tracks being offered by NYCOTB for the day.

The Live Tote on nycotb.com shows additional information (i.e., jockey, trainer, purse, distance) that I would like to see while making my wagers on ibetOTB.com. Can I view the Tote and ibetOTB.com at the same time?
Yes, you can view both by following these 3 simple steps:
- Log onto ibetOTB.com and select the tab “Pop Off” located above the wagering pad. Minimize this screen (ibetOTB Betting Pad).
- On the opened page, select the tab “Live Tote” located on the upper right. Maximize this screen.
- Bring back the ibetOTB Betting Pad page. You can either toggle back and forth between the two pages or adjust the pages so they’re both visible at the same time, whichever is more convenient for you.
How often are the odds updated?
The odds are updated approximately every 60 seconds. However, the time is actually
determined by how frequently the host track forwards the data.
Can wagers be cancelled?
Once you click on the “Accept Bet” button, the wager cannot be cancelled.
Will I receive a receipt confirmation advising me that my wager was received and accepted?
After selecting “Accept Bet”, you will receive confirmation in the Status Bar (in the
applet) that your wager has been accepted. In the Status Bar, you will see the bet
detail as well as your new ADW Account balance. You can find the serial number for each wager made that day by going to the “My Bets” section on the wagering pad screen.
How do I make multiple bets for the same track?
After receiving the bet confirmation for the initial wager for that track, just hit “Repeat Bet” located on the Actions Bar. This will bring back your last bet information. Then click on “Backspace” or “Clear Horses” until the part of the wager you wish to change has been removed from the Status Bar. Then, enter your selections for your next wager
Sign Up: When filling out the ADW Application, using the tab key moves you from the address to the state to the city, when it should go from address to city to state.
How long does it take for winnings to be posted to my account?
Your winnings, less IRW holdings (if applicable), are posted within minutes after
the race results are final.
Can I see my account balance online?
Yes, there are three ways you will be provided with your account balance:
- It will appear in the Status Bar (upper left hand side on the java applet) when you first access the wagering pad;
- After selecting “Accept Bet”, the confirmation of your bet will include your new balance;
- Click on the “Update Balance” button located on the “Action” bar underneath the horse numbers. Your balance will be provided in the Status Bar. You can even click on this button while in the process of building your wager; your balance will be provided and then within a few seconds revert back to the elements of the wager that you’ve already entered.
Can I see a history of my bets online?
Yes, you can see all the bets you’ve placed for that day by selecting the “My Bets” button on the wagering screen.
How do I dispute the calculation of a winning payment?
You can contact 1800OTB8118 (and then press “3”) or log on to https://www.iBetOTB.com for nonemergency issues.
What if I have other questions regarding wagering in HTML or the java applet?

IV. Technical Support
Are there any specific software or browser requirements?
No, there are no software or browser requirements.
Which operating systems does the internet wagering site support?
Windows 98, Windows 2000 and XP. If you have any other operating systems, you can still wager with iBetOTB by using HTML.
What is the optimum resolution to view the internet wagering site?
For optimal resolution, your video settings should be set for XGA 1024X768; the site
can also be viewed at 800x600.
Do you support WebTV?
If you have an internet connection, you can access NYCOTB’s internet wagering site on WebTV.
When I first access the wagering pad, why can’t I make selections with just one click of the mouse?
As with all Java interfaces, the first click activates the application and a second click is needed to make your selections. After the first click, all further selections on this screen will require only one click.
Can I only access my account from my own computer?
You can access your ADW Account from any computer with internet connections by entering your Account Number and PIN.
Is technical help available?

V. Security
What type of security does NYCOTB use on its wagering site?
VeriSign secures the NYCOTB internet wagering site. It is one of the leading secure sockets layer (SSL) Certificate Authority enabling secure ecommerce and communications for web sites.
Is my personal Account information secure?
Yes, all personal and wagering information is encrypted to insure the confidentiality and security of your data. However, it is also important that you do not provide anyone access to your account number, password or PIN.
Are transactions confidential?
Yes, all transactions are confidential to the extent permitted by law.
VI. General
What do I do if I forget my PIN?
Click on “Forgot your account number and/or PIN” located below the Log In button in the Members Section of the log on screen for further instructions.
